• Create a new document in Photoshop.
• Download Talbot-Lago car *Png file.

• Open road image.
• Increase Image Canvas size in 3 times.
• Duplicate road layer 3 tames and merge created layers to make road longer.

• Add Layer Mask and fill it with reflected black&white gradient just like on screen shot.

• Apply Motion Blur filter to the road (Filter > Blur > Motion Blur).

• Apply Distort transformation to blurred road just like on the image below.

• Add layer mask.
• Apply to right edge huge soft round black color brush in the Mask.

• Apply Luminosity Blending Mode to road layer.
• Fill bottom background layer with linear white/gray linear gradient.

• Apply Opacity 80% for road blurred layer and merge it with background layer.
• Insert Sky image. Apply Auto Contrast. Image > Adjustments > Auto Contrast.
• Go to Image > Adjustments > Levels (move black left and white right markers to center a little bit).

• Insert Illustrator decorative lines.

• Insert car image. Duplicate it.

• To create car motion effect, apply Motion blur to the bottom car layer.

• You should get something like this, apply small Perspective transformation to it.

• Apply Screen Blending Mode and Opacity 75% to it.
• Erase front area of the blurred layer.

• Insert paint splash image.

• Make it black & white: Image > Adjustments > Black & White > Maximum White, set Red channel like on the screen shot.

• This is black and white paint splash.

• Apply Horizontal Flip transformation to it. Edit > Transformation > Flip Horizontal.

• Place Splash layer below car layer.

• Rotate splash like in the example below.

• Correct color balance for paint splash to make it similar car body color.
• Image > Adjustments > Selective color. Play with setting to get best result.

• Erase right part of splash for use it in others areas of the car body.

• Create a new empty layer above car body layer and mask border between splash and car body using small brush with following settings:

• To choose right colors faster, use Eyedropper Tool. Keep active Brush Tool and click “Alt” shortcut.

• In order to make solid color process created spot with Blur Tool.

• You may get the same result using Stamp Tool.
• Make visible right part of the paint splash and repeat previous actions.

• You can make various splashes using Warp transformations and Liquify filter. Play with color balance splashes and Levels.

• Merge car body with splashes.
• Make color balance of the car wit splashes cooler using selective color settings.

• Add small paint drops using round brush with size dynamic settings.

• Use following settings.

• Duplicate background(landscape) layers and merge them.
• Place created layer above tree(“Beanstalk”) layer.
• Load selection for tree layer.
• Copy selected area and paste it above tree layer.

• Apply layer style effect to paint drops.

• Add Splatter effect using splatter brush to the front wheel.

• Merge all layers. Apply Auto Contrast.
• Create new white layer with Fill=0%.

• Apply Gradient Overlay to it.

• Merge layers again.
• Correct levels just like in the example below.

• Apply Gradient Overlay to merged layer.

• You may add vintage effect. Insert old paper texture, make it black & white, apply Soft Light Blending Mode and Opacity 40%.

Hello photoshoppers! We occasionally need a home icon for our design project. Commonly, a designer draw with Illustrator, but this time let’s create a mac  style home icon with Photoshop. The techniques used will be about making shape and playing with layer style. It’s not difficult to make this sweet icon. I hope you will get inspiration after following this tutorial.

Preview of Final Results

Step 1 – Creating New Document.

Create a new document (Cmd/Ctrl +N) with these setting:

Step 2 – Creating Shape For Roof.

Activate rounded rectangle tool . On the option bar, set to shape layer, with 20 px radius, set color to #a2a2a2. Create a shape.

Step 3 – Modifying Path.

Activate Convert Point Tool. And click on these points shown below to convert them into angles.

Step 4 – Modifying Path Again.

With pen tool and its “Auto Add/Delete”, delete the anchor points below.

Look at this. There are two points we have to delete.

And our image should like this.

Step 5 – Duplicating Path.

Use “Ctrl/Cmd + C” to copy path, then paste path “Ctrl/Cmd + V”.

Now we have two path in one layer. And then we’ll make them into a 90 degree angle. Use “Ctrl/Cmd + T”, and move the center of transform control to top right corner.

Rotate it 90º CCW, press enter to apply. Activate Path Selection Tool (A), nudge the path to left like this.

Step 6 – Preparing for Highlight (Duplicating Path and Scaling Down).

Now, we need to duplicate the layer with “Cmd/Ctrl + J”. And name it “highlight”. Then transform the paths on this new layer. Hit “Cmd/Ctrl + T” to show transform control. To get easier transforming, we can use Alt and Shift key. Scale down horizontally first, an then scale down vertically. Just like this.

Repeat the transforming onto another subpath.

Step 7 – Rasterizing.

On the layer pallette, right click on “highlight” and select “Rasterize Layer”. Or we can access it on Menu Layer > Rasterize > Shape.

Step 8 – Selection

On layer palette, Ctrl + Click on “highlight” layer thumbnail to load selection. Then click menu Select > Modify > Feather or use “Shift + F6″. Give 10 pixels radius.

Step 9 – Filling with White.

Hit “D” on keyboard to set default color. “Cmd/Ctrl + Delete” to fill the selection with background color (white).

Step 10 – Make it Smoother.

Hit “Cmd/Ctrl + D” to deselect. Then add “Gaussian Blur” onto this highlight. Click Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur and give 5 pixels. Then reduce the opacity layer to 50%. So it become smoother. But, the Gaussian Blur may increase its size. So make it into clipping mask to the lower layer. Just hit “Cmd + Opt + G” / “Ctrl + Alt + G”. The highlight will be inside the shape of roof.

Step 11 – Rotating -45º

Select both layers at once (“highlight” and “shape 1″). Press “Cmd/Ctrl + T” and rotate -45º. Use “Shift” for easier rotating.

Step 12 – Adding Layer Style.

Add layer style onto shape layer.

Inner Shadow

• Blend Mode : Multiply
• Set the shadow color to #515252
• Opacity : 100%
• Angle : 90º
• Distance : 5 px
• Choke : 0%
• Size : 10 px

Bevel An Emboss

• Style : Inner Bevel
• Technique : Smooth
• Depth : 100%
• Direction : Up
• Size : 24 px
• Soften : 16 px
• Shadow Mode : Multiply
• Set the shadow color to #515252
• Shadow opacity : 100%

Step 13 – Creating Shape Again.

With Rectangle Tool, create shape above background. And the color setting is #677479. And don’t forget to use “Shift” to make a square rectangle.

Step 14 – Rotating, Scaling and Placing.

Rotate the new shape, scale and place it proportionally.

We’re going to edit this new shape for completing “roof”, but it’s better to create front side first in order to get pola for editing.

Step 15 – Grouping.

Group these layers by select them and press “Cmd/Ctrl + G”. Give name “roof” to this group.

Step 16 – Drawing Path For Front Side.

Hide the “shape 2″ layer by clicking eye icon. Then using rectangle tool, draw a rectangle outside the group, above the “Background” layer. Shown below.

Note : while drawing, hold the spacebar key in order to be able to place path in center by dragging mouse.

Step 17 – Modifying Path – Add Anchor Points.

Using Pen Tool with “Auto Add/Delete, add anchor points on three places below. The pointer will automatic changed to Add Anchor Point Tool when brought nearer to path.

Step 18 – Modifying Path – Converting Points.

While Pen Tool still active, hold down the “Alt” key, pointer will be changed to Convert Point Tool. Click the anchor points we’ve just already created.

Step 19 – Modifying Path – Deleting Unnecessary Points.

There are two unnecessary points wich must be deleted. Use Pen Tool with “Auto Add/Delete”. The pointer will automatic changed to Delete Anchor Point Tool when brought nearer to anchor point.

Step 20 – Adding Layer Style.

Add layer style with following parameters.

Gradient Overlay

• Blend Mode : Normal
• Opacity : 100%
• Angle : 90º
• Style : Linear
• Scale : 100 px
• Custom Gradient with following stops:

1. #f6f6f6 on location 0%
2. #f6f6f6 on location 48%
3. #e7e8e8 on location 76%
4. #dedfdf on location 100%

Stroke

• Size : 3 px
• Position : inside
• Blend Mode : Normal
• Opacity : 100%
• Fill Type : Color
• Set the stroke color to #c8caca

After layer style added, our image should look like this:

Step 21 – Back to Roof – Duplicating Path.

Activate shape 2. We will edit it.

To duplicate the path, use Path Selection Tool. Select Path. Copy the path with “Cmd / Ctrl + C” and paste the path with “Cmd / Ctrl + V”. And then resize the path, “Cmd / Ctrl + T”, make the path copy bigger than original path. After that, on the option bar, select “subtract from shape area”.

Step 22 – Modifying Path – Creating Guide.

To get easier way to edit this path, we will use guide. Use menu View > New Guide…

Orientation : Vertical

Position : Just set to 1 in, we will change it later.

After the new guide has been already created, move it snap to shape 3. Then create new guide again and move it snap to the other side of shape 3.

Step 23 – Modifying Path – Editing Points.

Add anchor points on new path. Then change anchor points with convert points tool.

And then use Direct Selection Tool, let’s modify the points like this.

After this, we may clear the guides.

Step 24 – Adding Layer Style.

Add layer style with following parameters.

Inner Shadow

• Blend Mode : Multiply
• Opacity : 75
• Angle : -90º
• Distance : 8 px
• Size : 10 px

Step 25 – Adding Small Shadow – Creating New Clipping Mask Layer.

Create new layer above “shape 2″ by clicking new layer icon. And then press “Cmd + Opt + G” / “Ctrl + Alt + G” to convert it into clipping mask.

Step 26 – Adding Small Shadow – Drawing The Shadow.

With 40% opacity and 0% hardness brush, draw black shadow carefully.

Step 27 – Adding Roof’s Shadow – Creating New Layer in a New Group.

Create new layer above “shape 3″, outside the group “roof”, name it “shadow”. And then select both layer “shadow” and “shape 3″, hit “Cmd/Ctrl + G” to make them into group. Give a name “front” to this new group.

Step 28 – Adding Roof’s Shadow – Filling With Black.

Place your cursor on “shadow” layer. Hold Cmd/Ctrl and click on “Shape 1″ to make selection. Fill the selection with black. Then “Cmd/Ctrl + D” to deselect.

Then nudge it downward.

Step 29 – Adding Roof’s Shadow – Blurring.

Use menu Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Set radius to 7.0 pixels.

Step 30 – Adding Roof’s Shadow – Creating Clipping Mask.

Go to layer pallet, right click on “Shape 3″ and select Create Clipping Mask. Then move to “shadow” layer, press “Cmd + Opt + G” / “Ctrl + Alt + G” to create clipping mask.

Note: if we create clipping mask without converting “Shape 3″ to smart object, the “shadow” layer will not clipped into “stroke style” of “shape 3″. The “shadow” will be imperfect.

Step 31 – Making Back Part – New Shape on New Group.

With Rectangle Tool, draw a #a2a2a2 colored rectangle above “background” layer or underneath “front” group. Then group it named “back”.

Step 32 – Making Back Part – Adding Layer Style.

Add layer style with parameters shown below.

Inner Shadow

• Blend Mode : Multiply
• Opacity : 50%
• Angle : 45º
• Distance : 0 px
• Size : 5 px

Gradient Overlay

• Blend Mode : Multiply
• Opacity : 19%

Step 33 – Making Back Part – New Shape.

Create a shape again. With Rectangle Tool, and set color to #c8caca. The shape layer must inside of “back” group.

And then delete anchor point. Just like this.

Step 34 – Making Back Part – Adding Layer Style.

Add layer style with parameters shown below.

Inner Shadow

• Blend Mode : Multiply
• Opacity : 33%
• Angle : 146º

Step 35 – Making Back Part – New Shape Again.

Use Rectangle Tool to create a shape again, and set color to #677479. This shape not only must inside of “back” group, but also under all layers inside it.

After that, we’re going to edit this “shape 6″ before applying layer style on it. Shown below.

Step 36 – Making Back Part – Adding Layer Style.

Add layer style on “shape 6″.

Create a square shape with Rectangle Tool. Set color to #1f60ae. Make a group named “window”.

• Angle : 135º
• Distance : 13 px
• Size : 13 px

Gradient Overlay

• Blend Mode : Multiply

Step 39 – Making Frame – Making Shape.

Use Rectangle Tool to create shape above “shape 7″. Make a group named “frame” inside of “window” group. And all of frames will be placed here. See layer pallet below for reference.

Step 40 – Making Frame – Making Shape Furthermore.

Make shape again on right side of window, use #6c9ec5 for color setting. And duplicate it to left side. Just use “Cmd + Opt” / “Ctrl + Alt” click and drag to duplicate.

Step 41 – Making Frame – Again, Making Shape.

The last frame on top side. The color is darker than before, that is #373737.

Place it under “shape 9″ layer.

Step 42 – Making Frame – Editing Points.

Use Direct Selection Tool to select points below (shown as red circle). Then nudge upward. See the following picture for reference.

Then do it again to the other points. Select points and nudge downward. Shown below.

Step 43 – Making Frame – Adding Layer Style.

Add layer style with following parameters.

Gradient Overlay

• Blend Mode : Multiply
• Opacity : 49%
• Gradient : Black to White (reverse), drag the location of white color stop on 53%.
• Style : Linear
• Angle : 90º
• Scale : 100%

Step 44 – Making Glow – Duplicating.

Duplicate “Shape 7″ layer with “Cmd/Ctrl + J”. And rename the duplicate copy with “glow”. Then change its color, double click on layer thumbnail and set it to #70d2ef. Then remove all layer effects on it. Right click and select clear layer style.

Step 45 – Making Glow – Scaling Down & Rasterizing.

Scale down the “glow” layer. Then rasterize.

Step 46 – Making Glow – Blurring.

Menu Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur.

Step 47 – Shape For Highlight.

Above the “glow” layer, use Rectangle Tool to create shape, and then duplicate it by using “Cmd + Opt” / “Ctrl + Alt” and drag. After that activate Direct Selection Tool to edit points. See picture below for reference.

Rename the layer with “highlight”.

Step 48 – Gradient For Highlight.

First, add layer mask on “highlight” layer by clicking layer mask icon.

Use Gradient Tool, set it “Linear Gradient”, “Black to White” with “Reverse”. Be sure that layer mask is still activated, and apply gradient by dragging with holding “Shift”. Dragging process shown as “red arrow” on this example below.

Step 49 – Creating Shadow.

Create new layer above “Background” layer and name it “shadow 1″. Then use Elliptical Marquee Tool to make ellipse selection. After that, fill selection with black color and remove selection (deselect) with “Cmd/Ctrl + D”. Give Gaussian Blur with radius 9 pixels. And set the opacity layer to 50%.

Step 50 – Creating Shadow Again.

Create new layer again above “shadow 1″ layer and name it “shadow 2″. Then use Rectangular Marquee Tool to make rectangular selection on the bottom of icon. After that, fill selection with black color and remove selection (deselect) with “Cmd/Ctrl + D”. Give Gaussian Blur with radius 5 pixels. And set the opacity layer to 80%.

Then, let’s refine the shadow. Place cursor on “shadow 1″ layer on the layer pallet. And use Rectangular Marquee Tool to make a selection like following example. Then give feather with radius 3 pixels. Hit delete to clear shadow on this selection.

And both “shadow 1″ and “shadow 2″ layer, group them into “shadow” group.

In this Photoshop Text Effects tutorial, we’ll learn how to engulf text in an explosion of light and color.

There’s quite a few steps involved in this text effect, and we’ll be using a couple of filters that are not used very often in everyday Photoshop work, but creating the text effect is quite simple and the end result is definitely worth the effort.

Preview first:

Step 1: Open A New Photoshop Document

Open a new document in Photoshop by going up to the File menu and choosing New…, or by using the keyboard shortcut, Ctrl+N (Win) / Command+N (Mac). You can choose your own width and height for your document, but if you want to follow along, I chose the 640×480 size from the list of available presets to keep things simple. I’ve also left my Resolution value set to its default of 72 pixels/inch. Since I’m creating this text effect for the web, it makes no difference what I set the resolution value to, so the default value is fine:

Step 2: Add Your Text

With your new blank document open, grab the Type tool from the Tools palette or by pressing T on your keyboard. Make sure black is selected as your foreground color. If it isn’t, just press D on your keyboard to reset it to black. Choose your font in the Options Bar at the top of the screen. Thick, heavy fonts work best for this effect. Then, go ahead and enter your text. I’m going to use “Impact”, and I’ll type the words “LIGHT BURST”:

Step 3: Resize Your Text With Free Transform

With your text layer selected in the Layers palette, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+T (Win) / Command+T (Mac) to bring up the Free Transform box and handles around your text. Hold down Shift+Alt (Win) / Shift+Option (Mac) and drag out any of the corner handles to make your text larger and fill up more of the document area. Holding Shift constrains the text proportions, and holding Alt/Option resizes the text from the center:

Make sure to still leave plenty of room around the text for our light burst effect. Press Enter (Win) / Return (Mac) when you’re done to accept the transformation.

Step 4: Rasterize Your Text

We’re going to be applying several filters to our text, but Photoshop doesn’t allow us to do that without first rasterizing it, which simply means to convert it into pixels. So again with the text layer selected, go up to the Layer menu at the top of the screen, choose Rasterize, and then choose Type. This will convert our text into pixels. It will still look the same in the document window, but in the Layers palette, the Type layer will now be a regular layer:

Step 5: Add A Selection Around Your Text And Save It

Ctrl-click (Win) / Command-click (Mac) directly on the thumbnail preview area of the text layer in the Layers palette to quickly load a selection around your text:

Your text will now have a selection around it:

With the text selected, go up to the Select menu at the top of the screen and choose Save Selection. When the Save Selection dialog box appears, just click OK. There’s no need to name it or make any changes to the options.

Once you’ve saved your selection, press Ctrl+D (Win) / Command+D (Mac) to deselect your text.

Switch over to your Channels palette for a moment (it’s grouped in beside the Layers palette) and you’ll see your selection saved as a new channel named “Alpha 1″ at the very bottom. We’ll be coming back here a bit later to load our selection again:

Step 6: Use “Fill” To Fill Your Text Layer With White And Set The Blend Mode To “Multiply”

Switch back to your Layers palette once again, and with the text layer selected, go up to the Edit menu at the top of the screen and choose Fill, or press Shift+F5 on your keyboard to quickly bring up Photoshop’s Fill dialog box. When the dialog box appears, set the Contents to White and change the Blending Mode to Multiply:

Click OK when you’re done. Nothing will seem to have happened in your document window, but if you look at your text layer’s thumbnail in the Layers palette, you’ll see that all of the empty space around the text has now been filled with white, while leaving the text black thanks to that “Multiply” mode.

Step 7: Apply The Gaussian Blur Filter To The Text

Go up to the Filter menu at the top of the screen, choose Blur, and then choose Gaussian Blur. When the Gaussian Blur dialog box appears, enter a Radius value of about 4 pixels and click OK to apply a slight blurring to the text:

Step 8: Apply The “Solarize” Filter To The Text

With the text layer still selected, go back up to the Filter menu and this time choose Stylize, and then choose Solarize. This will turn the document black, and your text will appear as a white stroke:

Step 9: Lighten The Text With Levels

The text is looking a little dark, so let’s lighten it. Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+L (Win) / Command+L (Mac) to bring up Photoshop’s Levels command, and drag the white point slider on the right in towards the left until you reach the right edge of the histogram:

Click OK. The text will now appear much brighter:

Step 10: Make A Copy Of The Text Layer

We need to make a copy of the text layer at this point, so to do that, with the text layer selected, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+J (Win) / Command+J (Mac), which will add a copy of the layer above it in the Layers palette:

Make sure the copy of the text layer is selected because all of these next steps are to be done on the copy. We won’t be touching the original again until near the end.

Step 11: Apply The “Polar Coordinates” Filter To The Text

Go back up to the Filter menu, and this time choose Distort, and then Polar Coordinates. We’re going to send our text to the North Pole. Alright, no we’re not. What we are going to do is make it look very strange. When the Polar Coordinates dialog box appears, select the Polar To Rectangular option at the very bottom and then click OK:

Your text will now look very strange indeed:

Step 12: Rotate The Canvas 90 Degrees Clockwise

Go up to the Image menu at the top of the screen, select Rotate Canvas, and then choose 90° CW to rotate the canvas 90 degrees clockwise:

Step 13: Invert The Image

Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+I (Win) / Command+I (Mac) to invert the image, so black becomes white and white becomes black:

Step 14: Apply The “Wind” Filter Three Times

Go back up to the Filter menu once again, choose Stylize, and then choose Wind. When the Wind filter’s dialog box appears, make sure Method is set to Wind and Direction is set to From the Right:

Click OK to apply the Wind filter once. Then press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+F (Win) / Command+F (Mac) twice to apply the same filter two more times.

Step 15: Invert The Image Again

Press Ctrl+I (Win) / Command+I (Mac) to invert the image once again:

Step 16: Apply The “Wind” Filter Three More Times

With the image inverted, press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+F (Win) / Command+F (Mac) three more times to apply the filter to the image three more times:

Step 17: Brighten The Image Again With Levels

We need to brighten the image again using Levels, but this time, we’ll let Photoshop do the work for us by using Auto Levels. To do that, press Shift+Ctrl+L (Win) / Shift+Command+L (Mac) to apply the Auto Levels command to the image, which will brighten it up:

Step 18: Rotate The Canvas 90 Degrees Counterclockwise

Go back up to the Image menu at this point, choose Rotate Canvas once again, and this time choose 90° CCW to rotate the canvas back to the way it was originally:

Step 19: Apply The “Polar Coordinates” Filter Again

Go back up to the Filter menu again, choose Distort, and then choose Polar Coordinates. This time choose the Rectangular to Polar option and click OK:

Your image should now look something like this:

Step 20: Set The Layer Blend Mode To “Screen”

Go up to the blend mode options in the top left of the Layers palette and change the blend mode of the text copy layer from “Normal” to Screen by clicking on the down-pointing arrow and selecting “Screen” from the list:

This reveals the original text layer beneath it:

Step 21: Apply A Gradient Fill Layer To Add Color

Click on the New Fill Or Adjustment Layer icon at the bottom of the Layers palette:

And select “Gradient” from the list:

When the Gradient Fill dialog box pops up, click inside the gradient preview area at the top:

This will bring up the Gradient Editor dialog box. Click on the gradient swatch in the top left, the black to white gradient first, and this will make sure that both colors on either side of the gradient have their opacity set to 100%:

Then set your gradient colors to whatever you like. I’ve set the color on the left to a reddish-orange, and the color on the right to a yellowish-orange:

Exit out of the gradient dialog boxes once you’ve chosen your colors.

Step 22: Change The Blend Mode Of The Gradient Fill Layer To “Color”

With the Gradient fill layer selected, go back to the blend mode options in the top left of the Layers palette and change the layer’s blend mode to Color:

The image is now colorized with the colors from the gradient:

Step 23: Apply A Radial Blur To The Original Text Layer

We’re done with the text copy layer at this point. We’re going to finish off the last few steps by working on the original text layer, so click on it in the Layers palette to select it. Then go up to the Filter menu, choose Blur, and then choose Radial Blur:

Set the Amount to about 65 pixels, the Blur Method to Zoom, and the Quality to Best, as circled above, and then click OK to apply the filter to the original text:

Step 24: Load The Saved Text Selection

Only a couple of things left to do. First, switch over to your Channels palette again like we did earlier. We’re going to reload that selection we saved. To do that, simply right-click (Win) / Control-click (Mac) anywhere on the Alpha 1 channel at the very bottom, which will load the selection back into the document window:

Switch back to the Layers palette when you’re done. The selection is now loaded in the image:

Step 25: Fill The Selection With Black

With the original text layer selected in the Layers palette and black still as your foreground color, press Alt+Backspace (Win) / Option-Delete (Mac) to fill the selection with black and finish the effect.

Press Ctrl+D (Win) / Command+D (Mac) to remove the selection, and you’re done!

In today’s tutorial, I will show you how to create a detailed vintage TV from scratch using Photoshop’s vector editing capabilities. The detailed step by step guide will help you to understand the process of its creation.

First, take a look at the image we’ll be creating.

Step 1

Open Photoshop and create a new document. I am using 1000×800 pixels. After that fill the background layer with white using the Paint Bucket Tool (G).

Step 2

Set Foreground and Background colors to #4a0d04 and #9f2810. Use the rounded rectangle tool with radius of 5px to create a dark brown (#4a0d04) rectangle.

Rasterize this layer, then go to Filter > Render > Fibers. Set the Variance to 16 and Strength to 55, then apply.

Drop down colors a bit using Hue/Saturation (Cmd/Ctrl + U),

then apply following layer styles.

Name this layer “body”.

Step 3

Duplicate this layer (Cmd/Ctrl + J), position duplicated layer below original layer and move down a bit. Name this layer “base”.

With Rectangular Marquee Tool (M), create selection like on the picture below, and apply Layer Mask (Layer > Layer Mask > Reveal Selection) on “base” layer.

Apply Bevel and Emboss to “base” layer.

Create new layer above “base” and below “body” layer, give this layer a name “shadow”, Cmd/Ctrl + click on “body” layer to create selection around it, and fill selection with black color (#000000). Move “shadow” layer few pixels down,

apply Gaussian Blur with Radius set to 5px,

Cmd/Ctrl + click on “base” layer mask to create selection, make sure you are on “shadow” layer, apply Layer Mask,

and finally change the Blend Mode to Multiply and Opacity to 70%.

Pick up Rounded Rectangle Tool (U) and with Radius set to 10px draw small rectangle – “foot”, below “base” layer and apply Gradient Overlay from Layer Style.

Create new layer just above “foot” layer, create Clipping Mask (Layer > Create Clipping Mask), fill it with black color, and add Noise.

With Rectangle Tool (U) draw small rectangle and give this layer following layer styles.

Repeat the process to create the other foot.

With this we have finished basic TV shape.

Step 4

It’s time to move on. Go back to “body” layer, duplicate this layer and scale it down using Free Transform Tool (Cmd/Ctrl + T).

Cmd/Ctrl + click on layer thumbnail to create selection, go to Select > Modify > Contract and contract selection by 10px,

hit Backspace on keyboard to delete selection.

Set Fill to 0% and apply Inner Shadow, Bevel and Emboss, and Color Overlay.

Step 5

Now, we will start work on the screen. Using the Rounded Rectangle Tool with Radius of 100px draw black rectangle.

Go to Edit > Transform Path > Wrap, from drop down menu choose Inflate and set Bend to 15%.

Open Layer Style properties by double clicking on screen layer and apply following layer styles.

Create new layer, apply Clipping Mask, fill the layer with black color and add Noise (Amount: 3%, Uniform, Monochromatic) and lower the Opacity to 80%.

Step 6

Let’s create frame around black screen. Cmd/Ctrl + click on black screen layer thumbnail to make selection, go to Select > Modify > Expand and expand selection by 4px. Create new layer and fill selection with white color.

Apply following layer styles to this layer:

Cmd/Ctrl + click on layer thumbnail to create selection, then go to Select > Modify > Contarct and contract selection by 4px, and finally apply Layer Mask (Layer > Layer Mask > Hide Selection).

Step 7

In this step we will make the main TV screen. Duplicate black screen layer, drag it on top of layers, scale it down (Cmd/Ctrl + T), change color to #6c6c6c

and add layer styles.

It’s now time to add the reflections. You can get the image that is reflected on the screen here.

Open it in Photoshop and drag it into your document, then scale and place over the main TV screen.

Go to Edit > Transform > Wrap, choose Inflate and set Bend to 50%.

Next, give this layer Gaussian Blur with a Radius of 1.5px, adjust Brighness and Contrast to -70 and 81 (Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast)

Cmd/Ctrl + click on main TV screen layer to load selection, make sure you are on reflected image and apply Layer Mask (Layer > Layer Mask > Reveal Selection)

at the end change the Blend Mode to Overlay and set Opacity to 4%.

Duplicate reflected image and move it couple pixels to the right. Change the Blend Mode to Color Burn and set Opacity to 8%.

Cmd/Ctrl + click on main TV screen layer to load selection, create new layer on top, make sure that Foreground color is white, get the Gradient Tool, set the Gradient to Foreground to Transparent

Pick Elliptical Marquee Tool (M), draw ellipse like on the image below,

apply Layer Mask and set Opacity to 35%.

Grab Brush Tool (B), and with large soft brush dub one white spot,

give this layer a Gaussian Blur with Radius set to 20% and finally drop down the Opacity to 50%.

Create new layer on top, load selection around main TV screen, set the Foreground color to black, and go to Edit > Stroke.

Apply Gaussian Blur with radius set to 10px and set Opacity to 80%

Step 8

Using Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) draw selection and fill it with black color on new layer.

Give this layer Drop Shadow, Inner Shadow and Bevel and Emboss from Layer Style panel.

Create new layer on top, add Clipping Mask (Cmd/Ctrl + Alt + G), reset Foreground and Background colors to black and white by pressing D on keyboard, fill the layer with Foreground color (Alt + Backspace) go to Filter > Noise > Add Noise, set the Amount to 5%, for Distribution choose Gaussian and make sure that Monochromatic is checked.

Cmd/Ctrl + click black rectangle, set the Foreground color to white, click Layer > New Fill Layer > Gradient.

Step 9

Let’s add speaker hole. Start by drawing one small circle.

Select its path, hit Cmd/Ctrl + Alt + T, and move it to the right.

Duplicate again with Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + Alt + T. Repeat this until we have a row of holes.

We still need more holes. Select all paths, hit Cmd/Ctrl + Alt + T, move it down. Repat this until we have a lot circles.

Add Inner Shadow and Color Overlay from Layer Style.

Draw a black circle.

Cmd+click small circles to create selection.

Add Layer Mask so the black circle will be inside the holes.

Step 10

Set the Foreground and Background colors to #adacac and #4e4e4e respectively, with Rectangular Marquee Tool (M), create selection like on the image below and fill with the Foreground color,

and add following Layer Styles.

Create new layer on top, add Clipping Mask, fill layer with #adacac color, and then add noise by choosing Filter > Noise > Add Noise from the main menu with settings of 30%, Gaussian and Monochromatic.

To create the brushed metal effect, blur the noise by choosing Filter>Blur>Motion Blur with an angle of 0 and a distance of 55 pixels.

Next, grab Rectangular Maqruee Tool (M) and draw 2 selections like shown on the image below, then go to Layer > Layer Mask > Hide Selection.

Step 11

In this step we will create our command buttons. With the Ellipse Tool (U) create a grey (#969696) circle and add drop shadow.

Select the Gradient Tool (G) then click on the color preset. Change the colors so you have something like the image below.

Click holding Cmd/Ctrl on the thumb of the circle layer to create a marquee selection, cretae new layer above circle layer, then go to Layer > New Fill Layer > Gradient, select the Angle Gradient type and fill the layer with the gradient preset we created.

Change the Blend Mode to Overlay and Opacity to 50%.

Duplicate the circle layer and fill it with white. Change the order so it is on top of the other layers. After that change the Fill Opacity to 0% and add Layer Styles:

Duplicate the circle layer and move to the top, make sure it is white. After that go to Filter > Pixelate > Mezzotint. Use Fine Dots.

Create a Marquee Selection of the circle and then go to Filter > Blur > Radial Blur. Use 60 for the Amount, Spin for the Blur Method and Best for the Quality.

Set the Blend Mode to Multiply and Opacity to 50%.

With the Rectangle Tool (U) create a square holding Shift, then rotate the square (45 degree) and position it like the image below.

Open Layer Style properties and apply layer styles.

With the Rectangle Tool (U) create grey (#e5dcdc) rectangles, rotate them and position like on the image below, and add some text.

Select all layers used to create the button, then go to Layer > Group Layers. Duplicate the button group to add more buttons.

Step 12

In this step we will add Volume and Frequency buttons. To do that duplicate the button group again,  and hide grey rectangles.

Then duplicate the button base, resize it and drag below the original button base.

Select the layer with Layer Styles, and change the Color Overlay to Black.

Do the same for the Frequency button.

Step 13

Draw a dark grey (#373737) rectangle using the Rectangle Tool (U) to create the button, then open the Layer Style panel and add some styles to this rectangle.

Create new layer, add a Clipping Mask, fill layer with a black color. Add Noise by going to Filter > Noise > Add Noise, set the Amount to 20%, use Uniform for Distribution and tick Monochromatic. Set the Blend Mode to Soft Light.

Duplicate this button, change the shape color to #a31f1f and lower the Opacity of the Noise layer to 50%.

Finish this step by adding a company logo.

Here’s what we have right now.

Step 14

It’s time to add a model name using DymaxionScript font. I added Ambasador and then with rasterized the layer and stretched the end of the A and the O to fill the black box.

Then I added layer styles.

Step 15

We will finish our TV by adding a Channel Selector Button. Duplicate the Volume button, make it a bigger, then select the layer below the base button layer, and resize it even more.

Make sure you are on the bigger circle, Cmd/Ctrl + click to create a selection, then go to Select > Modify > Contract and contract selection by 2px.

Create a new layer just above the big circle and fill the selection with a black color.

Add Gradient Overlay from the Layer Style window.

Type a number 1 and add a small Drop Shadow and Inner Shadow to make it more readable.

Now we need to add more numbers. Hit Cmd/Ctrl + Alt + T. Hold alt and move transformation pivot (crosshairs in the middle of transformation box) to the middle of the button. Shift + drag to rotate number 30 degrees. Repeat the transformation and duplication by pressing Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + Alt + T. Finally, change the number.

Draw a grey (#cac8c8) rectangle in the middle of the circle to create a channel selector. Add layer styles as shown below.

Finally add a shadow below TV and we are done!

You can play around with the background to get a more attractive result.
